All Engineering Winter Academy Students will work as a team to start their own business. This year's topic: Career Prep in STEM.
Students are tasked with researching, designing, and prototyping a specific product assigned to them by the academy. The product will be announced on the day of the competition. Each student will be given a specific job on the team. Their jobs will be based on their previous performance/expressed interests and strengths in our Tech classes. Students will begin to research a STEM job of their choice on the first day of class. We encourage our students to research the following career paths:
Manufacturing engineer (prototyping)
Data communication analyst
Our students are rewarded not only with medals or trophies, but also with memories of the camaraderie and the challenge of the Engineering Winter Academy.
Judges will select three finalists to receive the ISE Tech Scholarship. These students will move on to the Engineering Summer Academy. This great opportunity allows these students to learn more advanced engineering subjects such as 3D modeling/Printing on SolidWorks. These three finalists will also get an opportunity to participate in the Engineering Design Competition in which our engineering students compete for a scholarship to any college/university. (1st Place-$500 2nd Place -$250)
